AQA GCSE Dance

During a two year course, students will be prepared for both practical and written assessments within two components.

Component 1

Performance and Choreography 60% of GCSE.

Students are taught two set phrases and a duet which are marked externally for accuracy, technique and performance. The students are also required to choreograph their own solo or group dance, again examined externally, and are marked on use of choreographic devices in response to a given stimulus.

Component 2

Dance Appreciation 40% of GCSE.

Students sit one written paper at the end of the two year course, answering questions on their own work, choreographic processes and six set dance pieces.
